To Reinforce & Expand Appreciation of Claverack’s Heritage
The Claverack Historical Society is proud to announce the Claverack USA 250! Celebration, marking the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. As a part of the nationwide semiquincentennial commemoration, Claverack will join Columbia County’s ColumbiaNY 250! initiative in celebrating this important milestone locally. The festivities will coincide with Hudson’s annual Flag Day Parade on June 13, 2026, creating a vibrant community event that brings together residents from across the county.
Grand Columbia County Parade and Community Participation
The highlight of the celebration will be a grand parade scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2026. Each town in Columbia County will be represented by a contingent that showcases its unique history and contributions. According to the County Historian and ColumbiaNY 250! Chairman Bill Better, the parade is envisioned to line up from Warren Street to Claverack.
Claverack’s Role in the Revolution
Claverack’s residents made significant contributions during the American Revolution and the founding of the State of New York. During the parade, our town’s contingent will feature colorful impressions of local history and folklore, bringing to life the stories and legends that have shaped the community.
How You Can Get Involved
Community members, neighbors, organizations, congregations and businesses are invited to support and participate in the celebration. Opportunities include providing wagons for floats, musicians for both floats and marching, horse drawn wagons, children’s marchers, scouts, dancers, actors, and singers. Your contribution can be whatever talent you wish to share. We would love to hear about it. Your involvement will help make the Claverack USA 250! Celebration historic!
